From CNN: Data from Columbia show that the left wing experienced a sharp rise in temperature minutes before the disaster. “In its final minutes, the shuttle experienced an unusually high temperature increase on its left side, lost a series of sensors on the left wing and then rolled unexpectedly to the left, according to a NASA data analysis.”

The article also mentions that Columbia managed to send down roughly 32 seconds of raw data after losing audio contact with mission control. I expect this to wield a lot of good information…and the nerd in me would love to get a glimpse of the data.
