Brittany (flower girl) at the Bowers-Hughson wedding

Brittany Sargent (the flower girl) kneels in front of the photographer’s slide show during the wedding reception.

Kim was the matron of honor in her best friend’s wedding over the weekend. Congratulations to Becky and Todd, and best of luck to you both!

The wedding photographer was using a Canon digital SLR to shoot the event. I’d never seen that before, but it makes perfect sense to me. Newer DSLRs have more than enough resolution to make huge prints, and there are obvious cost and convenience benefits that make digital photography very attractive even to professionals. One of the ways the photographer took advantage of the medium was to perodically dump the contents of his memory cards into his G4 Cube, which was set up on a table in the corner of the reception hall. The images were then shown as a slide show with random transitions between shots. Kim and I (and a few other random people) were watching the show when the flower girl scampered up and promptly kneeled right in front of the monitor. I took this photo just as she had kneeled down; on the monitor you can see the bride surrounded by her parents and sisters. This is one of my favorite photos from the wedding, and one of my personal favorite photographs.
